Deputy governor of the Central bank of Myanmar was shot by PDF

During Aung San Suu Kyi's NLD government, she appointed a US citizen, Bo Bo Nge as the deputy governor of the Central bank of Myanmar. He has been arrested since the coup. He was responsible for keeping USD 1B of Myanmar assets in the US banks and USD US$5.7 billion in Singapore banks before the 1 Feb 2021 coup. It seems that this was the plan to make sure there was no money in the central bank in case the coup happened.

Ms. Than Than Swe took over Bo Bo Nge's position at the central bank. On 8 April 2022, she was shot in her home by PDF, the country’s shadow National Unity Government (NUG)'s military wings. The shooting comes a few days after the central bank issued an order to scrutinise the in and out flow of foreign currencies. Previously, Myanmar’s government has blocked the flow of funding to NUG and other anti-junta organizations by shutting down mobile banking accounts
